Doonside

Doonside is an established residential area. Doonside is bounded by Richmond Road in the north, generally by Camdan Place, Sandstock Place, Stockade Place, Ceramic Way, Milson Road, Doonside Crescent, a line running continuous of Tallawong Crescent, Tallawong Crescent and Bungarribee Creek in the east, Doonside Road and the Great Western Highway in the south and the Eastern Creek in the west. Doonside is named after a town in Scotland.

Development of the area dates primarily from the post-war years. Significant growth took place during the late 1970s and 1980s. The population declined slightly from the mid 1990s, a result of some dwellings being added, but a decline in average household size.

Major features of the area include Nurragingy Recreation Area, Featherdale Wildlife Park, Bert Saunders Reserve, Bungaribee Creek Reserve, Woodstock Avenue Reserve, Rainbow Shopping Centre and numerous schools.
